The MDDA National Family Retreat is our hallmark annual event, bringing together families and individuals from across Australia in a welcoming, supportive, and inspiring environment.

Held at the stunning InterContinental Sanctuary Cove, the retreat offers the perfect setting to connect, learn, and recharge. Following the overwhelmingly positive feedback from previous retreats, and the venue’s exceptional ability to cater to the unique needs of our community, we are excited to come together once again in this beautiful and relaxed location.

Set within the picturesque surrounds of Sanctuary Cove, the retreat provides a unique opportunity to step away from the everyday and immerse yourself in a truly supportive environment. Over the course of the event, attendees can look forward to meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and valuable insights in a safe and inclusive space.

The retreat welcomes a diverse range of participants from the IEM community, including families with newly diagnosed infants, children and teenagers, as well as adults with lived experience. We also warmly welcome those returning to dietary management, along with parents, grandparents, siblings, carers, and partners—creating a strong and understanding support network.

In addition, the event brings together leading professionals and guest speakers from metabolic clinics, research organisations, and health institutions across the country, offering attendees access to current knowledge, guidance, and expertise.
